Viewing Angle Test

Presents reference skin-tone neutral swatches, mid-grays, and color blocks designed to reveal off-axis color shifts, gamma washing (typical of TN and some VA panels), and contrast drop.

Technical Scope & Limitations

Visual evaluation tool. Physical angle degrees and off-axis Delta-E cannot be measured by a browser.

Browser rendering output can be influenced by OS display scaling, GPU driver color settings, and active HDR profiles.

Testing Instructions
  1. Start the test and view your screen head-on (0° normal axis).
  2. Move your head slowly to the left and right (horizontal viewing angle).
  3. Stand up and crouch down (vertical viewing angle).
  4. Note if colors desaturate, skin tones turn yellow/pink, or dark areas wash out into gray.

How to Perform the Test

  • Start with your head centered directly in front of the display.
  • Move left and right by 30° to 60° to test horizontal angle.
  • Stand up or lower your position to test vertical angle.
  • Observe if colors desaturate or skin tones take on an unnatural tint.

What to Look For

  • IPS and OLED panels retain color saturation and hue accuracy across extreme angles.
  • VA panels show gamma shift (elevated shadows and reduced saturation from the sides).
  • TN panels exhibit severe vertical inversion (top looks dark, bottom looks washed out).
