Testing Instructions
- Observe the central geometric discs and subtle corner quadrant textures.
- Check if all inner low-level concentric rings remain distinguishable from the surrounding black.
- If inner rings blend completely into pure black, your display gamma may be crushing dark details.

What This Test Checks
- Separation of subtle dark geometric shapes (luminance levels 1 through 24) against true black.
- Concentric low-luminance discs to test circular gradient roll-off.
- Corner micro-textured near-black reference blocks.
How to Perform the Test
- Dim your room lights completely to maximize dark scene eye sensitivity.
- Focus on the center geometric circular rings.
- Verify that all concentric rings remain distinguishable from one another down to the outer black surround.
What to Look For
- If inner concentric discs merge into a flat black void, your display is crushing shadow details.
Common Display Problems & Diagnostic Guidance
Incorrect Gamma Mode in Dark Rooms
A gamma target of 2.4 or BT.1886 can appear too dark in normally lit rooms, causing fine shadow textures to disappear.
