Black Level & Shadow Crush Test

Presents near-black patches corresponding to RGB digital values from 0 up to 32 against a pure black background. If your monitor brightness is set too low or gamma is crushed, near-black values will disappear into the background.

Technical Scope & Limitations

Displays digital near-black values (0–32). Does not measure physical nit luminance.

Browser rendering output can be influenced by OS display scaling, GPU driver color settings, and active HDR profiles.

Testing Instructions
  1. For best results, dim room lights or test in a dark room.
  2. Enter fullscreen mode and allow your eyes 30 seconds to adapt.
  3. Inspect the numbered squares: on a well-calibrated display, squares from RGB 2–4 upward should be faintly distinguishable from the black background.
  4. If squares 1–16 are completely invisible, your black levels are crushed (increase Brightness or adjust Black Equalizer).
